It can be seen as a bit uncouth to discuss sponsors; that olde-worlde British sensibility, where money chat is taboo. But the fact is, it is the arrangements reached with the corporate world that make much of what we so enjoy about cricket possible. And besides, there’s something comfortable and recognisable about companies and their association with trophies and the like –a return to simpler, less cluttered times. Every cricket person can rattle them off.
So it helps when the sponsors associated with the game have the long-term interes...
