An apology: along with no other newspapers or media outlets this column recently suggested that England had little chance of beating Australia Down Under this winter with Joe Root as skipper because the burden of leading the side would be too much for his batting to bear and his batting was more important than his captaincy.
It also argued that the solution was to appoint Ben Stokes as his successor in order to release Root to concentrate on scoring the runs England will need to regain the Ashes. Ah....
