Iwrote in these pages last month that Australia – both the national team and the country itself – was in complete disarray as the Ashes loomed in the distance.
Right now, the heat on besieged coach Justin Langer has simmered down, helped by September being a month totally devoted to the pointy ends of the AFL and NRL seasons. Cricket is almost forgotten much to Langer’s relief.
