KL RAHUL has withdrawn from India’s squad for the World Test Championship final against Australia after tearing a tendon in his right leg.
The 31-year-old sustained the injury while fielding for Lucknow Super Giants at the beginning of May.
Rahul will undergo surgery, ruling him out of the long-awaited final at The Oval, before beginning rehabilitation as the National Cricket Academy.
The opening batsman has been replaced by 24-year-old Ishan Kishan, who is yet to make his Test match debut, but did feature in India’s white-ball series in England last summer.
