It was a fabulous performance from India to end their 13-year wait to win a World Cup title.
They were undoubtedly the best team in the tournament, winning eight games on the bounce to reach the final. The only concern for Rohit Sharma’s side was the fact they hadn’t really been tested at any point before the big showdown in Bridgetown.
But they held their nerve even as the game appeared to be slipping away from them, with South Africa at one stage needing only 30 runs from 30 deliveries to take home the trophy.
