He’s just been the most consistent opener across all formats that I have played with, quite simply. He should’ve got a lot more international cricket than he has done.
Chris Dent
At just 26, I think Dent is one of the best young opening batsmen around. I don’t think he has got the recognition he deserves so far, maybe he will in the future.
Kane Williamson
I played with him in my first two years at Gloucestershire and although he wasn’t a world superstar then you could just see he was going to be special. His work ethic and the way he went about his game, you just knew he was going to make it to the top.
Hamish Marshall
The best team person you could ever wish to have in the ranks. He’s an outstanding pro and he’s so versatile. On or off the pitch he will do anything for you. He was almost like a father figure to a lot of the lads.
Gareth Roderick
As a wicket-keeper, I think he can only have dropped around two catches off my bowling in about six years! As a bowler that’s all you can really wish for. As a batsman, he’s aggressive and he scores runs. He’s got a very loud voice out there too which always helps.
Will Gidman
The years he was with us he was one of the most prolific all-rounders in the country. He was averaging around 44 with the bat and 22 with the ball. He was an incredible talent with us. Again, without any recognition. He showed some great consistency so I couldn’t not have him in there.
Jack Taylor
In the last few years his batting has come on leaps and bounds, better than anyone else I have seen. He’s someone you can rely upon to score runs consistently. His bowling, when he’s allowed to bowl, is just so consistent. He takes wickets in limited over cricket and that’s what you need as a spinner. He also keeps the run rate down which is ideal.
Kieran Noema-Barnett
Off and on the field, he has an amazing personality. He’s one of the nicest guys you can meet. He gets a lot of criticism but I think he’s doing a great job for the team. Overall, he bowls and the runs he doesn’t go for keeps the team together. Without him our team doesn’t work so he has to be in there.
David Payne
The way he’s learnt to swing both the red and white ball in the last three years; I think he’s one of the best opening bowlers in the country. He consistently takes wickets. I’ve lost count on how many times he’s taken a wicket in the opening over of a match. He’s worked incredible hard to be in the team.
Jon Lewis
I only played one year with him. He took me under his wing and taught me how to be a better bowler really. He told me about the hard graft you have to show and how to deal with injuries. He could run in all day every day for the team.
Anthony Ireland
The year before I signed for Gloucestershire, I was in the second team a lot with him and his ability was incredible. He’s one of the biggest factors in getting me from a club cricketer to a professional. He spent a lot of time with me in the nets and in the field. Without him I don’t know if I would’ve made it.
