Chris Dent
I’ve played with Chris for a long time now, since the academy in fact. He’s always shown he’s got the ability to open the batting and be very good at it as well. I think he’s got great potential to go even further with his career too.
Michael Klinger
He only played here at Gloucestershire for a couple of years but when he was here he made a pretty incredible impression on me. Some of the records he broke in his short time was remarkable. I can remember many games he took the game away from teams, whether that be in red or white-ball cricket.
Kane Williamson
He did a season with us when he was really young. I think he had just touched on the international scene but wasn’t the player he is now. He came over and you could tell he had a lot of class in his batting. He expanded his game and I was very lucky to play with him and watch him go about his business.
Hamish Marshall
He played with us for a long time. Hamish was brilliant on the field and off it, a real character and really brought the changing room together through his humour. He could make everyone laugh. But he knew how to be professional on the field and was a class player. He was a huge part for me when I was growing up at Gloucestershire.
Gareth Roderick
He might have been hindered with injury in recent times but his early years here were superb, a very reliable player. His ability is something we need in the team. He’s a serious talent and hopefully he can get back to the level he was at a few years ago.
Benny Howell
In white-ball cricket he’s sensational.
He has all the gifts with the bat and the ball. He is so versatile when bowling. He’s very handy with the bat and can make important runs when they really count. A serious talent.
Will Gidman
The few years he had with us were unbelievable. We picked him up from Durham and wasn’t really known to many but he was a standout player. He was taking wickets and scoring runs like a true all-rounder. Another unbelievable bloke off the field too.
He let his actions do the talking.
Jon Lewis
Easily one of the best bowlers I’ve ever played with. One of the most skilful. He wasn’t the quickest but he could land it in an area almost every single time. From what I remember, he could set up batsman beautifully. He knew exactly what to do in almost any situation.
Steve Kirby
With the ball Steve could do most things. He was a guy who helped me grow as a player and I owe a lot to Steve for the time we spent together at Gloucestershire. A superb fast bowler and the nicest bloke in the world off the pitch. The red mist descended on the pitch and he didn’t mind roughing up the batsmen.
Muttiah Muralitharan
He was a superb character on the field and off the field. His figures speak for themselves – they are truly remarkable – and he was a great guy to be around, albeit for only a T20 season. We need a spinner in the team and there’s no doubt he fits the bill and would surely get us plenty of wickets!
Liam Norwell
He’s someone I’ve played with for quite some time now and it has been really nice to watch him grow as a player. He’s taken so many wickets in recent years. It feels like we have a great partnership opening the bowling together, I will savour these years.
