Kent veteran Darren Stevens signs up for another year

All-rounder Darren Stevens has signed a one-year contract extension with Kent to guarantee his place for the 2019 season.

The 42-year-old has a source of runs and wickets for Kent during their ongoing County Championship match against Middlesex, top-scoring with 64 after taking 4-44 with the ball.

Stevens made his debut way back in 1996 in a white-ball match at Chelmsford and has gone on to be on the verge of passing 15,000 first-class runs and 450 wickets.

For the three-time Kent Player of the Year promotion back to Division One could be on the cards for the second-placed side.

Just 12 points separate leaders Warwickshire from Sussex in third, who play each other next week when Kent hold the advantage as they face Glamorgan at the Spitfire Ground.
