England have announced their squad for the Cricket World Cup taking place on home soil.

Liam Dawson is included as a reserve spin option to Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid, as Joe Denly misses out despite playing in the ODI series against Pakistan and touring Sri Lanka and West Indies over the winter.

Dawson has shown form for the selectors to merit his, claiming 18 wickets in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Jofra Archer’s display of pace bowling in Malahide and in the 4-0 series victory over Pakistan has also seen him picked in the squad led by Eoin Morgan.

The Sussex bowler has played in three ODIs for England and replaces David Willey for the final squad named ahead of the ICC’s 22 May deadline.

England’s top order will also figure to have James Vince involved as he replaces Alex Hales.

England open the tournament at the Oval on 30 May against South Africa, the first match of a tournament where England hope to attain the unprecedented achievement of a first Cricket World Cup triumph.

How England may line-up against the Proteas could be foreseen in their warm-up fixture against Australia this Saturday at the Ageas Bowl.
