THERE’S something in the air on the south coast. And, just for once, it’s not persistent drizzle.
Instead it’s the faint whiff of optimism that one of the County Championship’s longest ducks could be about to be smashed. It was 1973 when Hampshire won their second and most recent title, following on from their success in 1961.
