Memories of Procter were also stirred when I read Derek Pringle’s piece on festival grounds which included Cheltenham.
I consider myself fortunate to have witnessed Procter’s hat-trick of LBWs against Yorkshire at Cheltenham College in the August of 1979.
It was high drama as Procter raised himself to bowl with verve from round the wicket and Geoffrey Boycott was safely ensconced at the non-striker’s end!
