Sunil Narine banned from bowling

SUNIL Narine is the latest bowler to be banned after his action was judged to be illegal.

The West Indies off-spinner is not allowed to bowl in international cricket and follows the likes of Mohammed Hafeez, Kane Williamson and Marlon Samuels to be under ICC scrutiny.

An independent assessment ruled that Narine, 27, bent his elbow beyond the 15-degree limit in all variations of his deliveries. He was reported during the third ODI in the recent series against Sri Lanka.

An ICC statement said: “Narine’s international suspension will also be recognised and enforced by all national cricket federations within domestic cricket events played in their own jurisdiction.”

The ICC added that Narine may be able to continue bowling in domestic cricket, although it would have to be with the consent of the West Indies Cricket Board.
