Ben Sanderson has built a reputation as one of the most consistent bowlers on the county circuit. But the foundations for that success were laid in the builder’s yard as well as the cricket field.
Ten years ago, after being let go by Yorkshire aged 22, Sanderson spent several years working in construction. That helped build his fitness, and he was determined to prove he still had something to prove with ball in hand, so on days-off he plied his trade in Minor Counties Cricket for Shropshire and in local leagues for Rotherham.
