IT’S fair to say that David Payne could not have asked for a better summer.
The Gloucestershire left-arm seamer became a father for the first time in May and the following week fulfilled a dream of playing a red-ball game at Lord’s, picking up a career-best 11-87 in the process.
Now 30, Payne has been a consistent performer on the county circuit for the past decade, taking over 300 first-class wickets at an average of 29.55.
