SCOTT BORTHWICK returned to haunt his former county to take Durham to the brink of a first trophy since 2014.
Alex Lees and Borthwick notched 75 and 71 respectively as the north-east county secured their place in the final on Tuesday night with a five-wicket victory over Surrey, successfully chasing down a total of 281 at Emirates Riverside.
Their partnership the foundation with a 119-run partnership for the second wicket with David Bedingham putting the seal on victory with a quickfire fifty.
