NORTHAMPTONSHIRE’S lower order put up a heroic eleventh-hour rearguard to deny Durham victory and secure a nail-biting draw.
James Sales, who smashed a boundary on debut to win the game against Surrey last week, made his maiden first-class half-century while Simon Kerrigan blocked out 135 balls for an unbeaten 28.
The Steelbacks had been in trouble after collapsing to 129-7 in their second innings, having conceded a huge first innings deficit of 217.
