CHRIS Woakes’ decision to withdraw from the IPL may have hit him in the pocket but winning a second County Championship with Warwickshire compensated him in other ways.
Woakes, a proud Brummie and a product of the academy at Edgbaston, had not made a championship appearance for Warwickshire in three seasons until the cancellation of the final Test against India and his decision not to link up with Delhi Capitals left the England all-rounder unexpectedly free for county duty.
