ON SUNDAY afternoon, Anya Shrubsole departed the field at Lord’s for the last time as a professional cricketer.
It was a decent sign off for the stalwart of the women’s game, who first represented Somerset as a 12- year-old and has enjoyed a 15-year international career, as she captained Southern Brave to their first Hundred title with her final act.
After successive defeats to Oval Invincibles in the previous two years, Shrubsole’s side dominated Northern Superchargers in front of a record 21,636 crowd at the Home of Cricket.
