Rutherford blitz sends Kiwis packing

A stunning knock from Sherfane Rutherford rescued West Indies from a perilous position in their Group C encounter with New Zealand, setting up a 13-run win in Trinidad which confirmed their place in the Super 8s and signalled the Black Caps’ exit.

The Windies were 22-4 when Rutherford arrived at the crease, and later slipped to 76-7, but the Guyanese left-hander effectively played a lone hand, hitting six sixes in his unbeaten 68 from 39 balls to carry his side to a respectable 149-9, including 37 from the last two overs.
