EARLY INFLUENCES I didn’t come from a family of cricketers. My dad never played, but I must have inherited his speed and sporting ability – he was a sprinter in his day. I used to play in the street with the neighbours, that’s how I fell in love with the game. I was 10 when I played my first proper game, and I managed to get 72 not out.
