Record-breaker: Joe Root goes to his 34th Test century, overtaking Sir Alastair Cook’s mark

JOE ROOT broke a whole raft of records at Lord’s as England turned the screw against Sri Lanka in the second Test. The visitors ended the day needing a further 430 runs to win having already lost two wickets.
For the first time, Root hit twin hundreds in a Test match, in the process going past Sir Alastair Cook as the England batter with the most Test tons. There are now only five players with more than Root – Tendulkar, Kallis, Ponting, Gavaskar and Dravid. This w...
