SURREY made it three Championship titles from three as their defeat of Durham, coupled with Somerset’s surprise loss at Old Trafford, means the Championship pennant will remain at The Oval for another season in Alec Stewart’s last year as Director of Cricket.
Meanwhile, Sussex will join Surrey in the first division after their demolition of Gloucestershire at Hove confirmed their promotion.
