The former England opener, Warwickshire chief executive and deputy chairman of the ECB reflects on his career in the game.

Where it all started
DA: My father was a club cricketer and he used to play on Saturdays and Sundays. All the fathers would go along with their sons and watch, and we’d have our own game while they were playing. We’d borrow their bats and pads which were miles too big for us but that started my love for the game.
My father took me down to Edgbaston at the age of nine for coaching and they said I was too young. You’d never turn anybody away now....
