CAMERON Steel will keep calling the Riverside his home after extending his contract at Durham until the end of the 2019 season.
Batsman Steel, 21, has featured in all three competitions for Durham this season, and scored his maiden first-class century last month, as he made 128 against Northants.
The California-born opener previously captained Durham MCCU and has reached 500 County Championship runs this season, averaging 35.7 with one ton and two halfcenturies.
