SLEDGING is a misnomer for Australian tactics. It is “mental disintegration” as first practised by Steve Waugh. It is to mentally destroy a player.
There are two huge risks to it. 1) The victim’s mental condition is unknown so terrible harm can be done; 2) It turns sport into war. I am convinced this issue will dominate international cricket in the New Year, and even the ICC will have to act to clear this evil out of our wonderful sport.
