Ashes contest failing to live up to the Test of top billing

A ONE-SIDED Ashes contest might be doing wonders for Australian confidence – but it’s doing precious little good for the Test game at large.
The Aussie procession in the opening three Tests has once again shone the light on the increasing advantage of playing at home, and has served to illustrate just how lop-sided cricket’s longest format has become.
Before the MCG Test, England had won just a single Test away from home since January 2016.
That solitary win came in Bangladesh in a series which featured a first Test defeat in the country.
