SUGGESTIONS of growing support for youth football to introduce something akin to a mid-season break could have disastrous consequences for club cricket if the winter sport’s season is extended to late May and June.
Kenny Saunders, Save Grassroots Football campaign founder, said: “We’ve had kids and amateur teams who haven’t played in 12 weeks.
“One of the most fundamental things we can do to address that is to move the season and have a mid-winter break when the weather is at its worst and the pitches are unplayable.
