THERE are a vast number of ex-cricketers who, with other lovers of the game, don’t watch county cricket in their retirement years.
The reason given when asked is overwhelmingly that they have never really thought about it.
Would it not be a good idea for the ECB when distributing their annual grants to insist that a percentage of the sum be spent on vigorous recruitment drives for new members?
I am certain there is an untapped market out there.
