IT says a lot about the ambition of prolific Essex opener Nick Browne that he reflects on last year as disappointing despite narrowly missing out on his third consecutive 1,000-run season.
‘Mr Consistency’ scored 952 County Championship runs in 2017 as Essex won the Division One title for the first time since 1992, having previously passed the mark in 2015 and 2016.
