Dowrich leads top Windies fightback

A DOGGED sixth-wicket stand between Shane Dowrich and Jason Holder helped West Indies recover from an early wobble to finish on 246-6 on day one of the first Test against Sri Lanka.
The hosts found themselves reeling on 147- 5 in the afternoon session, with Lahiru Kumara (3-57) the pick of the bowlers, before Dowrich and Holder put on 90 to leave the match evenly balanced.
It is the first time the sides have met in the fiveday format since 2008, when they shared a Test each.
