ENGLAND football fans famously sing about “Thirty years of hurt” (55 now), but that’s nothing compared to those who follow New Zealand Cricket.
Ninety-one years since their first Test – and having succumbed to agonising defeat in the last two World Cup finals – the Black Caps are now the inaugural Test champions of the world. And, oh, how they deserved it.
As David versus Goliath feats go, this ranks right up there among sport’s greatest triumphs. Whatever the Three Lions go on to achieve in Euro 2020 will pale into insignificance.
