IN SPORT, as in life, it’s important to hold onto your dreams. Something that John Evans, the victorious captain of England’s Over70 World Cup winning side knows only too well.
Evans once came up short by a single run in the National Village Final as the skipper of Frocester against Kington at Lord’s in 1993. But at Wormsley, against the might of Australia, he went one better – bringing cricket home with a seven-wicket win for the septuagenarians in an inaugural World Cup for the age group recently.
