“Sometimes I still think about it,” admits Mondli Khumalo. And there is a lot for him to ponder.
For the smallest fragments of time can have long-lasting consequences.
Thirteen months ago, Khumalo, a South African Under 19 international with a rookie KwaZulu-Natal inland contract, was out and about in Bridgwater, Somerset.
He was enjoying his first experience of English club cricket and was celebrating victory.
But alarm bells sounded when on the Sunday morning, he failed to show up for North Petherton CC’s fixture.
