LANCASHIRE may have hammered Cambridge MCCU by 340 runs in their final warm-up fixture ahead of the County Championship season, but it was the news that opener Haseeb Hameed avoided serious injury that was the real boost.
The 20-year-old was struck on the hand by Cambridge opening bowler Tim Moses after facing just 23 balls in the contest and was forced to retire hurt, prompting an anxious wait as he underwent a scan.
