NICK COMPTON has warned Middlesex they cannot afford to rest on their laurels as they defend their first Championship in 23 years.
Compton, whose rediscovered form contributed to their title charge in the second half of last summer, expects the county to be strong contenders again.
But it is clear there will be no complacency despite the unbeaten Division One run which took Middlesex to the title on the final day of the season.
“Playing the way we played last year might not be good enough to win it this year,” Compton told The Cricket Paper.
