Swindell is Leicester’s final hero
Homegrown hero Harry Swindells smashed a magnificent maiden One-Day century as Leicestershire won their first List A trophy in 38 years with a dramatic last-ball victory over Hampshire in the One-Day Cup final at Trent Bridge.
Batting at eight, the 24-yearold helped rescue his side from 19-4 with a stunning stunning unbeaten 127 – his first century in limited-overs cricket – to help the Foxes to a total of 267-7.
Hampshire, having lost only two of their nine One- Day finals, looked favourites after half-centuries from Tom Prest (51) and Liam Dawson (57) helped set up a thrilling finale.
But, with eight runs needed off the last over – bowled by another homegrown hero in 19-year-old Josh Hull – Dawson holed out and they fell short to lose by two runs.
