Essex will talk to Sir Alastair Cook about his future at the end of the season after a newspaper report claimed the opener is set to announce his retirement.
The club issued a statement on Thursday after the Daily Mail reported that the former England captain is ready to call it a day following the conclusion of this year’s County Championship which Essex can still win.
