Oh, James Vince! A batsman of elegance and grace in this age of artisan nurdlers and muscle-bound bashers, but one who forever gets out when he’s going well. He finished in New Zealand with 76, started in England with 75. Very Vince-like scores, both of them, but tending to stand out among the 18s and 27s. So often he seems to be in and then comes the flash and the slip catch. And he doesn’t get as many runs as David Gower.
