Unusual route to the top has forced Azad to weigh options

HASSAN AZAD enjoyed a dream start to his firstclass career, scoring a total of 1,523 runs at an average of 50.76. Indeed, in this season’s County Championship with a struggling Leicestershire side, he has crossed the 1,000 run mark at an impressive average of over 54. Yet, a few years ago, he was well on his way to a potentially fruitful cricket career in Pakistan after being named in the national Under-15 squad that took part in the 2008 International Under-15 Cricket Championship in the Caribbean.
