Results have been thin on the ground in a predictably weather-hit April, which could make Sussex’s win over Gloucestershire last week absolutely priceless by the time the sun sets on the season in September.
A fact that Paul Farbrace, the county’s head coach, is quick to acknowledge.
He watched on as Sussex edged closer to their victory target at Hove, layered up against the biting cold as winter stubbornly refuses to make way for spring, let alone summer.
