Yorkshire sign Travis Head for second half of 2016

BIG Bash star Travis Head will spend the second half of the 2016 season at Yorkshire after signing a deal with the county champions.

Head, 22, scored 299 runs for Adelaide Strikers in the most recent edition of Australia’s t20 tournament and will play in all three formats from July 18. He will replace Kane Williamson who will represent the county for the first half of the campaign.

Head is set to play in the Indian Premier League after being snapped up by Royal Challengers Bangalore but he’s looking forward to the challenge that faces him when he reaches Headingley.

Head said: “I can’t wait to get over to England and play for Yorkshire, the best side in the English game.

“To work alongside Dizzy (Jason Gillespie) is also an added attraction. He was brilliant for the Strikers and I have heard so many positive things about what he is doing with the team at Yorkshire.

“To play across all formats is important to me and playing in English conditions will be a good challenge.”
