A host of England players will be in action for their counties over the coming weeks with national team mates set to face each other for domestic pride.
All 18 of the players selected for the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka will have the chance to hone their skills with their counties as the battle for quarter-final places in both competitions intensifies.
The England clashes begin on Thursday with newcomers Dawid Malan and Tymal Mills facing each other as Sussex travel to Lord’s to face Middlesex. Three Lions captain Eoin Morgan, Steven Finn and Chris Jordan are also set for action.
On Friday, opener Alex Hales comes up against five of his team mates as Nottinghamshire face Yorkshire with Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid, David Willey and Liam Plunkett all set to play.
Alastair Cook, Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad will all take a break until returning to red-ball action in the County Championship in early July.
England head coach Trevor Bayliss said: “The guys are all really keen to play for their counties whenever possible, and we’re very happy with that.
“There should be some great games over the next few days which is a good way for them to prepare for our switch to white-ball cricket against Sri Lanka.”
