ADAM Milne will not feature in this summer’s T20 Blast with the New Zealand bowler set for surgery on an elbow injury.

Milne, 24, was scheduled to play seven matches with Essex as a replacement for Pakistan’s Wahab Riaz who now joins up with Pakistan for the Test series against England.

Milne has not played since being ruled out with a hamstring injury after his Indian Premier League debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore in mid-April and is the third New Zealander forced to return home early from T20 duty. Worcestershire’s Mitchell Santner and Luke Ronchi of Birmingham Bears have also departed.

Now Essex are on the hunt for a replacement to fill Milne’s shoes.

Essex head coach Chris Silverwood said: “We have a list of replacements that we are working hard to bring in. Hopefully we can treat the fans to an exciting arrival in the coming weeks.

“It is disappointing for ourselves and Adam. We were excited by his arrival. But, unfortunately, he requires surgery on an elbow injury he picked up previously.”
