Alex Barrow will leave Somerset at the end of his season, with the county not renewing his contract.
The wicketkeeper, 24, came through Somerset’s academy and has gone on to play 40 first-class games. He has taken 71 catches and scored 1,201 runs.
Somerset director of cricket Matt Maynard said: “After a number of discussions with him we have agreed that it (his contract) won’t be renewed.”
Barrow is a former England U19 international and also featured in 26 List A matches and one T20 for Somerset.
Barrow said: “I have been very lucky to have played with some fantastic players and to have played with some great friends. It’s been a pleasure to play with all of my team mates over the last few years and I wish them all every success going forward.
“I wouldn’t have been able to follow this dream without the continued support from my family and friends and I am extremely grateful for everything they have done for me over the last 6 seasons and all the years before that.”
