DAVID Lloyd is targeting 1,000 runs in the County Championship after the Glamorgan all-rounder signed a two-year contract extension.

Lloyd’s new deal keeps him with the county until the end of the 2019 season and he is now looking to improve on his breakthrough year where he hit his maiden first-class century.

That was just the beginning of things with three centuries in the season that include 712 Championship runs and ten wickets.

Lloyd said: “The way the season started I was really pleased with every format, this year I’d hope to get a thousand runs and be more consistent where the back end of the season tailed away.

“Hopefully I can learn from it, go an extra couple of steps and keep on being as consistent as I can.

“Having come through the development system and making my debut over four years ago, it has been a great journey so far.”
