Taking off ankle brace: It’s basically a lace-up brace, similar to the footwear that boxers use. I use it to support my ankle and it’s something that I’ve always used. But it takes ages to get it off and especially after a long day in the field, the last thing you want to do is undo this long lace so it’s something that definitely annoys me.
TCP Verdict: We think ankle braces are fine – you use it to aid your game! Ankle braces stay out of Room 101 for now.
Facing other fast bowlers: Being a fast bowler myself, you know what others bowlers are capable of, especially the ones that enjoy bumping you. I’ve done it in the past, so when I go in to bat I know exactly what to expect. I don’t mind being hit as such, but I can’t say I enjoy the prospect of being bowled at, particularly at such high speeds when you know the quicks are going to come after you and give you a bit of your own medicine.
TCP Verdict: You’ve done your fair share of bumping over the years and we think it’s fine that the opposition give you a taste of your own medicine. Maybe it’s time to toughen up, Matt…
Sitting next to Rory Burns: As a typical wicketkeeper, Rory’s kit is everywhere and it’s an absolute nightmare. I’m quite a clean person and I act like I don’t mind it, but I must admit it does get to me occasionally. Especially after a long day in the field, the last thing you want is to go back in the dressing room and then you’ve got kit everywhere thats smell. It’s not ideal!
TCP Verdict: No-one likes a messy teammate, let alone at the end of a hot summer’s day in the field. So you’re right Matt, Rory Burns’ kit management goes straight in
