Second XI cricket is more than just status

THERE has been more than a little stardust sprinkled over Second XI cricket in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, Chris Woakes ran out for Warwickshire’s second string in a Championship match against Leicestershire at Kibworth.
England colleague Jimmy Anderson then slipped his whites on for Lancashire II as they took on Nottinghamshire at Old Trafford – his first meaningful run-out since the final Test of the Pakistan series.
