LANCASHIRE Lightning sealed their place in the Blast quarter-finals with a seven-run victory over Yorkshire that left Vikings captain Adam Lyth bemoaning “schoolboy cricket” from his side.
The visitors looked well set to win a Roses T20 for the first time since August 2017 when Lyth and Joe Root led them to 115-1 in pursuit of Lancashire’s 167-6. England’s Test skipper smashed 64 from 39 balls, but the run-outs of both he and Lyth (45), then later Will Fraine, proved fatal.
