Steven Finn is expected to be out of action for four weeks after injuring his hamstring.

The fast bowler, 32, was injured on the final day of England’s 10-wicket defeat against Pakistan in the fourth Test at The Oval.

He will miss the ODI series between the two countries but hopes to return to play for Middlesex before the end of the county season.

Finn played in three of the Tests against Pakistan, taking five wickets. Having made his international debut in 2010, Finn has since played 35 Tests, 65 ODIs and 21 T20 matches for the Three Lions.

An ECB statement confirmed: “Steven Finn has sustained a left hamstring tear. He is anticipated to be available in approximately four weeks.

“He will start a rehabilitation programme with Middlesex and England, and is aiming to play a part in Middlesex’s Championship campaign in September.”
