A HALF-CENTURY from Kusal Perera and a lower-order rally saved Sri Lanka’s blushes with the bat in the first Test of their two-match series against South Africa.
The tourists had started the day on 49-1 in response to South Africa’s total of 235 from their opening innings but slipped to 133-6 at lunch on the second day in Durban.
Oshada Fernando (19) and Dimuth Karunaratne (30) both lost their wickets early as Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander struck for the hosts, while Kusal Mendis was dispatched for 12.
